Juniper Manor, Juniper Manor II and 83-85 Main Street are located in the quaint village of Trumansburg, Fountain Manor is located in the Caroline counrtyside and Newfield Garden Apartments is nestled in the center of Newfield. Based on income, all rents are affordably priced; with handicapped accessible units available.
First-Time Homebuyer Assistance
Better Housing administers the Tompkins County Homeownership Program, which provides education, homebuyer counseling and financial assistance to make a first home an achievable dream for many families. Since 1994, this program has helped over 270 low-income families and individuals purchase the places they now call home.
Housing Rehabilitation for Homeowners
Better Housing works in local partnerships to administer rehabilitation programs in the towns of Tompkins County. Low-income homeowners receive assistance to have significant repairs done on their homes. Services are currently available in Caroline.
Home Repairs for Homeowners
Better Housing assists older and disabled homeowners to continue living independently, by providing the small repairs they need to keep their homes safe and accessible. Typical jobs include repairing steps, fixing leaky faucets, patching roofs, and installing wheelchair ramps. Seniors pay for materials only.
New York's First Elder Cottages
Better Housing offers the Elder Cottage Housing Option, a unique solution for elderly persons who want to live near a supportive relative, usually an adult child. A one bedroom cottage is placed on the property of the child and used by the elderly relative. When no longer needed, the cottage can be moved for use by another family at another time.
